I LOVE THIS EMBROIDERED SHIRT! I saw a version of it when I was in NYC for Fashion Week at Zara and I was like, “OOH! I want that.” I went in about three different Zara stores during my visit and didn’t make the purchase, but it was always on my mind. Within a month of that first encounter, I probably saw it on five different people that I know. So, I ordered one online that was a little bit different.
When I think of embroidered pieces, I immediately think of different cultures. I am reminded of the lovely embroidered dresses from Mexico, Asian-influenced fashion, and even my grandmother’s handkerchief. I love the mandarin collar on this one; it’s so feminine and classy.
I chose to wear my embroidered shirt with some boyfriend jeans and overtly flashy shoes from Crossroads (the holy grail for cute shoes if you’re a size 10 or higher) to rough it up a bit, but man, you can wear this so many ways including:
A velvet pencil skirt and heels that tie at the ankle
Tucked inside skinny or bootcut jeans with a thin belt
A blazer and oxfords
Ripped shorts and gladiator sandals when summer finally decides to come back
Warning for my tall gals: For those of us 5’8″ and above, note that it’s going to fit like a regular shirt, but if you are shorter, it will be a bit longer and oversized. Going up a size won’t help the length. The online notes were misleading.
