If you grew up in Sacramento, chances are you and your family have made a drive out to the Folsom Premium Outlets. As a kid, it used to be an adventure with my mom. Sometimes my grandma even tagged along for the ride. Fast forward to adulthood and it is still one of my favorite shopping destinations. If I’m on a mission and having trouble locating a type of item at a boutique or the mall, I know I can always drive out to the outlets and find something.
Living in beautiful California, we have plenty of outlet centers, but Folsom Premium Outlets is a short 20-minute drive east of Downtown Sacramento. With stores like Banana Republic, LOFT Outlet, Coach and Nike Factory to Gymboree, The Children’s Place and Bose, there is something for everyone. You can check out the full directory here.
My boyfriend and I like to shop, and I don’t take for granted the fact that he’s a great shopping partner for a second. He never gets tired of going to see what he can find, or of waiting for me when I’m trying on clothes, because I need an opinion, of course. 🙂 On a recent shopping trip to the outlets, we challenged each other to find complete head-to-toe outfits for $100 or less.
Were we able to pull it off? You’ll have to watch the video below!
$100 Outfit Challenge at Folsom Premium Outlets
What’s even sweeter about shopping at the Folsom outlets and other Simon properties right now is that you can shop for a cause. Through May 31st, donate $10 to Susan G. Komen at Guest Services and you’ll receive a special discount card that will give you 25% off at multiple retailers. The card will pay for itself quickly!
Before you plan your own outfit challenge, check out my tips for a successful trip to the outlets.
TLG’s TIPS FOR OUTLET SHOPPING
- Go shopping on a weeknight. I hate shopping in large crowds because I like to take my time through the racks. If you can go during a weeknight, you will feel like a VIP, trust me.
- Make a list of what you need before hand. Sometimes shopping can have the Target effect (where you buy a bunch of stuff that you don’t need because..it’s Target), and while there are deals to be had, you want to be smart about the ones that you’re taking advantage of.
- Sign up for the email lists of your favorite stores or do a quick online search to learn about current specials. CJ and I found killer deals at Banana Republic Factory because they were having additional 40% off clearance. Also, if you sign up for Simon’s VIP Shopper club, you’ll get the latest info right to your inbox.
- If you’re shopping at a Simon property, stop by the Visitor Services office and pick up a Savings Passport. Almost all of the retailers are listed and you can save some serious cash.
Happy Shopping! If you do a challenge, be sure to tag me in your posts on social media!
