Over the years, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has come and gone, and I have missed out on some great items because I didn’t have a plan. Don’t be like me! From July 21-August 6, you’ll be able to shop the best of fall and winter fashion and beauty for a fraction of the price. The best part is that those designer duds you’ve been admiring, always seem to go on sale, so if you’ve been ready for a splurge, this is the sale you want to shop.
Because I’ve succeeded and failed at the NSale over the years, I wanted to share a few tips to help you navigate the sale like a boss:
Scan your closet now and see what gaps you need to fill in your fall and winter wardrobe.
This is a hard to fathom since it’s hotter than you-know-what in most parts of the country, but it is imperative since the best deals during the sale are on cold weather essentials: boots, sweaters, coats and so forth. There are some very cute items (I’m loving all of the bows, ruffles, and velvet), but you don’t want to over purchase things. While the sale is pretty killer, it’s not worth going broke over it. A cute purse and wallet do not matter if there isn’t any money in it! 😉
If you’re a Nordstrom cardholder, you can shop the sale early starting on the 13th!
I am not a card holder, but if you are, you get first dibs on EVERYTHING starting this week. That ensures you get those Sam Edelman boots in your size, or that coat you’ve been eyeing. Yes, I’m giving you my shopping list… 😉
Been shopping or need to shop at Nordstrom before the sale? Sign up for Nordstrom Rewards so you get notes to spend.
This is a free rewards program that Nordstrom offers and you can stack up points at Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, and Hautelook. For every $1 you spend, you get a point. If you’re a cardholder you get 2 points. See where you’re at now in case your Nordstrom Note is ready just in time for the sale. Get more information on the program here.
If you see something you really like, don’t wait.
I usually never buy an item on the first “date,” but with the anticipation of the sale plus unknown inventory levels, you may want to get something before everyone else and their mama does. The first time I waited and ended up at a loss was in 2008. A bag had gone on major sale, like almost $200 less than the original price and I didn’t buy it at the sale. It was restocked a month or so following and it NEVER went on sale. Ever. But I loved it so much that I bought it, but I always felt like a sucka because I could’ve saved some serious cash. 🙂
Avoid the rush at the mall and shop online, especially since there’s free shipping.
I hate crowds, so you won’t see me at Arden Fair or the Galleria at any peak shopping times. I’m going to be shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale from the comfort of my couch and encourage you to do the same. In the coming days, I’ll be featuring many round up blog posts on items I’m loving, so it’ll feel like we’re shopping together (maybe I should do a Facebook live?). I promise I’ll consider ALL price points and styles.
