This past weekend I headed up to Portland with two other couples for some foodie fun. I don’t travel nearly as much as I should, so when the opportunity presented itself to join a trip with some fun people, the boy and I jumped on it, especially since it’s such a short flight there (only an hour and a half).
I didn’t really know what to expect going there. Every time I mentioned that I was going to visit Portland, people instantly exclaimed “Ooh! I love Portland. You gotta go here, and you gotta eat this,” yadda yadda. The bar was raised super high. And it lived up to the hype!
A little collage to show off some snippets from the trip. If you follow me on Instagram, you already got a taste!
The city is unpretentious, a little grunge, and downright cool. We stayed at The Nines hotel, which is probably the nicest hotel I’ve stayed at to date (from the staff to the accommodations). We didn’t hold back when it came to eating. We ate so well the entire trip. Some places we indulged in were Ox, Blue Star Donuts, Pok Pok, Little Bird (where I ate from Portland Dining Month menu), Tasty n Alder and Nong’s Khao Man Gai (chicken and rice baby). Lots of walking, lots of beer. It was the perfect little adventure.
We already have been talking about our return to the area. Maybe next time we will drive and add a touch of recreational activities. I can hardly wait!
