Hello! I hope your week is going well. Birthday celebrations were wonderful last week. Thank you for all of your birthday wishes! You can catch some of the action looking up #tlgbirthday on Twitter and Instagram. The last activity in “celebration” was Hops ‘N Chicory, an event hosted by the folks at California Endive. Local bloggers and restauranteurs were invited to enjoy the festivities. For my day job, I work (and eat) a lot with restaurants in Downtown Sac so I was able to enjoy this perk. Hops and Chicory are two key elements that are used to produce beer and endive, which are two local gems.
These photos were taken in one of my favorite parts of Sacramento: the R Street Corridor, which spans several blocks. There is one block between 15th and 14th that is hot for restaurants, bars and salons and then further west there are a couple of eateries (including favs Shoki Ramen House and Fox & Goose). I love this street not for what it is today, but for what it’s going to be in a few years. There’s currently development for retail, artists lofts, office spaces and more. It’s a proud moment for your city when you witness its growth right before your eyes.
Now, to the outfit!
Hello! I hope your week is going well. I did a post awhile back on where to find deals, so I decided to do a refresher because now is the time to take advantage of some GREAT savings. I get questions about the places I shop pretty regularly – from co-workers, friends and strangers. It’s a little difficult because I shop so many places, but I’ve narrowed it down to my top picks.
Hello! Today I’m talking weekend wear. When it comes to weekend wear, I really try to keep it casual. I haaaate dressing up. More often than not, you can find me in yoga capris and a tee shirt. Maybe even a hat! But, for those times when I have to run errands, or want to meet a friend for lunch, I kick it up a notch, but I don’t sacrifice comfort. This look was just that. Comfy chic! Dressy t-shirt, boyfriend jeans, comfy sandals and a great handbag.
Hello! Because of my loyal fans, I won the Better Homes and Gardens Ultimate Summer Bash vote off for Summer Style. Thank you so so much for your votes! There are other categories to vote for, so be sure to check out their page over the next couple of weeks. 🙂
Did you get enough of the graffiti murals in my Love Bellissima post? I didn’t think so, so here’s the view from the other side of the wall!
I love this outfit because there are a lot of different trends happening like fringe, camo, and spikes, and somehow they all go together harmoniously.
I hope your week is off to a great start. The Eyecatchers series is back in full effect! I figured it was a good way to mix in a little bit of lifestyle into the fashion focus and these are definitely worth sharing with all of you.
Below are the eyecatchers for the week:
We All Have The Same 24 Hours
We all have the same 24 hours. You have the same 24 hours as Beyonce. I do too! Now, granted, I don’t have a team of professionals to keep me on track and my line of work doesn’t fall in the entertainment category, but the bottom line is – it doesn’t do us any harm to take a look at how we are spending the hours in our day and if there is room to improve productivity and happiness.
It really made me start thinking about how much time I am wasting, time that I can’t get back. A former coworker of mine posted this article on Facebook and I’m so glad she did. Check out the article here. Note: This is an older article, but new to me. So happy it’s in circulation still!
“The Cobwebs” Art Installation in Sacramento
There’s pop-up art in Sacramento. Free art pieces are being placed in random places around Sacramento over the past couple of days. Created by Jarius Tonel, “The Cobwebs” are small works of art that were part of a previous installation at the Crocker Art Museum.
It’s simple to get your hands on a piece. You just have to follow them on Instagram at @thecobwebs to see where the next art will be placed. So far they’ve been Midtown, Downtown and in Land Park.
I had the pleasure of trying some new products that are available in Whole Foods stores – a wide variety but all great products!
If you’re in a rush to take something sweet to a party, you gotta pick up a couple of their new Mini-Pies. I had the peach one and it was just the right amount of sweet. If you’re not a peach fan, there are a variety of seasonal flavors (blueberrry, anyone?). Also in the food category was the Ninja Squirrel Sriracha Sauce. I am a big fan of spice and that sauce was one of the spicier of sriracha’s I’ve had. Add a little to your vegetables and your taste buds will dance. I chose some zucchini!
Next came body care. Babo Botanicals offers organic and vegan baby care products, but they are effective enough for the whole family to enjoy. The Calming Bath and Shampoo is made with lavender and is especially great at nighttime to promote relaxation. The Moisturizing Wash lived up to its name, which I attribute to the oatmilk in the product. It can also be used as a shampoo. But, the product that really wowed me was the Smoothing Detangling Spray designed for unruly hair. A few spritzes of this stuff, and the comb literally glides through my hair. A must have product for any curly girl – of any age!
I hope you enjoyed the things that caught my eye. Cheers to a short but fabulous week!
I hope you all had a great weekend and a lovely Father’s Day. I hosted my dad and my siblings for a Father’s Day lunch on the lawn. The weather was absolutely perfect and my dad was very surprised and happy with everything.
I wanted to share some recent TLG happenings other than on the actual TLG blog. One is a feature by another blogger and the other is a contributed piece written and styled by me!
This past Friday I was a featured blogger on Global Couture. It’s always an honor when another blogger features you on their site. I had the opportunity to talk about my style, beauty regimen and favorite places to shop. Head over to the GC blog and check it out the feature!
Also, my exclusive style post on Best Friends For Frosting is now live! This month I’m talking about Polka Dots – big ones and little ones! Polka dots are classic and to keep your look modern and fresh, you have to take a different approach in wearing them. Head to my BFFF post for the tips and tricks. And if you want to see what other trends I’ve covered on Best Friends for Frosting, check out my contributor profile.
As always, thank you for your support and Happy Monday!
I hope you are starting the week off right! How are you adjusting to Daylight Savings? If I’m being honest, as excited as I am to have more hours of light, my body is a little out of whack! I feel like I go through this every year and it last a few days, but every year feels like it’s the first time. 😉
Remember when Prabal Gurung for Target launched a month ago? If you like TLG on Facebook and Instagram, then you saw my photo recap on the big day of the Target stores (yes, stores) I visited. I was able to snag a couple of pieces from the collection, pieces that I knew I had to snag immediately or have it be gone forever. One of which is a sweatshirt that I saw Zoe Saldana wearing online a couple of weeks before the launch:
She was workin it and didn’t have to try hard, either! I followed suit and paired my sweatshirt with black skinny jeans. However, I decided not to keep things so simple, and used silver accents to shake it up.
A fun outfit, right? You can totally go out on the town if you have the jacket on. Or, take the jacket off and just run some errands, while looking stylish. If you don’t want to wear heels, a flat boot works nicely too… maybe even a wedge sneaker! I think with a fun print like this, you can just take one of the colors in the design and run. The possibilities are endless.
Have you been rockin’ any Prabal Gurung pieces? There are still a lot of options in store, and you know in true Target fashion, they will be marked down soon. Don’t worry, I’ll be sure to let you know when it happens! 😉
Have a great day!
