I first began my subscription in November of 2011 after my cousin had sent me some information on it and I then began to do some research because I wondered how in the hell did I not hear about getting beauty samples in the mail every month tailored to my needs?
What is Birchbox? According to their website:
“Birchbox delivers luxe beauty samples to your door each month. Find out what you love, and buy with confidence.”
The idea is that you try a product, you love it, you can buy it from their site. This is a great way to sample some of the hottest products out there without blindly shelling out all of the dough, not knowing how the product is going to work for you.And it’s only $10.00 a month. They also offer free shipping for the special items of the month, which is awesome if you can’t find a product locally or don’t have the time to go to the mall.
My November Birchbox was a disappointment. I felt like I got someone else’s by accident. December rolled around and there was a lot of buzz generated around this Birchbox – “Frolic and Fancy” – because it was the box for “all of your holiday parties.” They even had a Birchbox pink lipgloss that was being created just for this month! All that was well and good, except I got mine at the very end of the month. I was furious because although a mass e-mail had apparently gone out to subscribers to apologize for the delay, I hadn’t received an explanation, or my package. But, I did like and use the items in that box.
January was Birchbox’s last chance with me from a product and customer service front, and I think that we will have a long-standing relationship from now on. Check out my loot! I can’t wait to try all of this stuff and tell you about it.
