I’m leaving on a jet plane to Boston for the weekend and one thing that I was certain of when it came to packing was that I did NOT want to have an overloaded suitcase. I always pack with these three words in mind: “Just in case,” and that hardly ever becomes a reality. So, I buckled down and made some suitcase magic happen. Here’s all of what’s in my bag.
Since I’m only going to be in Boston until Sunday because I’m attending a Saturday wedding, my wardrobe was fairly easy to decide. Because it’s a quick trip for me and the boy (we’ll only have Friday morning/afternoon and Sunday to mosey in his hometown), I packed two casual outfits that can be dressed up or down.
Gap jeggings, Nordstrom Rack black shell blouse, Crocs sandals (don’t judge until you try them)
Banana Republic Factory jumpsuit, Gap Snakeskin sandals (on sale!), Phillip Lim for Target scarf
Stella & Dot studs, Banana Republic cuff, giraffe necklace, white tassel necklace, gold ring
I’ll be attending a rehearsal dinner on Friday evening and chose to wear this halter “scarf style” dress that I just love. It doesn’t hurt that I got so many compliments on the first time I wore it, and the fact that it’s flowy and comfortable made it a no-brainer for this trip!
Dress: Rachel Roy (available here but on sale for under $30 in stores)
Shoes: Kenneth Cole Reaction via Marshall’s
Necklace/Earrings/Ring: Forever 21
Clutch: J. Crew Factory
The wedding I’m attending is formal, but I wanted to wear something modern and fresh. I didn’t see what I was looking for in stores and with my budget, so I decided to Rent the Runway and chose this beauty from BCBG Max Azria. You can rent it next week when I’m done with it. 😉
Dress: BCBG Max Azria
Jewelry and clutch: Charming Charlie
Wrap: Nordstrom Rack
Shoes: Lauren Ralph Lauren via Marshall’s
Now to the other stuff… toiletries and makeup. Again, I wanted to pack light and only include items that I know would get used. While I have this cute little train case from the Lilly Pulitzer for Target launch (do you see the giraffes?!), I put my makeup and certain toiletries in plastic bags to prevent any leakage or smearing. You can’t tell from this picture, but each bottle in the clear plastic bag is labeled!
I must say, I don’t wear false eyelashes on every occasion but on Saturday I surely will. Rent the Runway included some 3D White strips that I’ll be using in advance, too (thanks, guys!).
Another thing to help me stay organized and lightly packed is my new pill box! Isn’t it adorable? And it’s gold! It zips all the way around and inside is a plastic container that is labeled by day, perfect for vitamins, probiotics, Advil for hangovers, etc. 🙂 There are an assortment of designs and styles at your local Marshall’s if you want to snag one for yourself!
And on to my personal item(s)…
For my personal item, I included my favorite “vintage” tote bag from Old Navy to carry my laptop, neck pillow and my Coach purse that will be used on Friday and Sunday during the day. This is how I “cheat” having one carry-on and one personal item. 😉 My little zipper pouch has all of my important cords that I need so there will be no digging around at the airport!
Yay, I did it! 🙂 I’m sure I’ll be Instagramming away on my trip, so be sure to follow me!
Enjoy your weekend!
